Our travel experts can offer advice on the best destinations, routes, and experiences to extend your journey, so you can explore confidently and make the most of your time abroad.
Arrival & Transfers
We provide an airport transfer on the day your trip begins. To make things easy, aim to arrive between 9am and 5pm on the start date. Once you’ve booked your flights, be sure to share your arrival details in the Manage My Booking area so we can coordinate your pick-up. If you’re arriving outside these times, don’t worry, we can help you arrange a private transfer at your own cost. Our team will give you all the details you need to meet your driver and get to your accommodation safely and smoothly. All in-country transport throughout your trip is included, so you can relax and enjoy the journey. We handle transfers between hotels, activity locations, and any pre-arranged excursions, using buses, trains, and boats where needed. Each tour page lists the correct airport to fly into and out of, so you’ll know exactly where to arrive and depart. If you're still unsure, just chat to the team!
Luggage & Packing
Pack light, pack smart, and be ready for anything. Bring versatile clothing for warm days, cooler evenings, and temple visits. A sturdy backpack or suitcase works fine, and you’ll have opportunities to do laundry along the way. Don’t forget essentials like chargers, travel documents, and a good pair of walking shoes for exploring
Flights
Flights are not included in the trip price and will need to be booked separately. We recommend securing your place on the trip before booking flights, as availability and dates can sometimes change and flight prices can fluctuate. Once your place is confirmed, our team is happy to help with advice on the best airports to fly into, typical routes, and timings to ensure your arrival runs smoothly.
Visa & Vaccinations
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the country you are visiting. For UK citizens travelling to Thailand, you can stay for up to 60 days without a visa as a tourist. Border control may ask for proof of departure within that time, such as a return or onward flight. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the country you are visiting. Some destinations, like Thailand, allow certain nationals to enter visa-free for a limited period, while others, such as Indonesia, may require a visa on arrival or in advance. It is your responsibility to check the latest visa and entry requirements before travelling. You can do this via the relevant embassy or consulate website, or reach out to our team for guidance. We also recommend checking with your GP or a travel health clinic for advice on vaccinations and other health precautions for the country you are visiting. Make sure to arrange any required vaccinations well in advance to ensure a smooth start to your trip.
Group Leaders
Who are the group leaders? Your group leader is your go-to guide, mentor, and ultimate problem-solver while on tour. They know Thailand inside out, from hidden local spots to the best places to eat, and are there to make sure your trip runs smoothly. Think of them as your travel BFF who’s got your back 24/7. How big are the groups? Groups are kept small and social, usually between 12 and 22 travellers, so it’s easy to bond and make friends for life. You’ll meet people from all over the world, all sharing the same love of adventure and discovery. Can I get in touch with my group or leader before the trip? Yes! Around two weeks before your tour, your group leader will be added to your group WhatsApp. You’ll also be able to connect with your fellow travellers in our private destination-specific community so you can start sharing tips, hype, and travel excitement before you even arrive.
Wildlife & Marine Life
The Maldives is world-famous for its incredible marine life, especially across its coral reefs and island ecosystems. What you see will depend on the locations you visit, but expect opportunities to spot tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, and even reef sharks while snorkelling. You’ll spend plenty of time in the water, exploring vibrant reefs and learning about the importance of protecting these fragile ecosystems. We prioritise responsible and sustainable experiences, working with trusted local partners to ensure marine life is respected and protected. While sightings can’t be guaranteed, every trip includes opportunities to connect with the Maldives’ unique underwater world in a safe and ethical way.
Volunteering
You’ll take part in a mix of conservation and community-based projects, helping to protect the environment and support local island life. Activities may include beach clean-ups, learning about coral reef preservation, and getting involved in sustainability initiatives alongside local teams. You’ll also gain insight into how communities live and work in the Maldives, and the steps being taken to protect its unique ecosystems. It’s a hands-on, rewarding way to give back, while still experiencing everything that makes the Maldives so special.
Visa & Vaccinations
UK passport holders can visit the Maldives for up to 30 days without arranging a visa in advance, as a visa is granted on arrival. You may be asked to show proof of onward travel and accommodation, so it’s worth having these details ready when you arrive. As requirements can change, it’s your responsibility to check the latest entry guidance before travelling. We recommend checking official government websites or speaking to our team if you need support. We recommend checking with your GP or a travel health clinic for the latest advice on vaccinations and health precautions for the Maldives. Make sure to arrange any recommended vaccinations well in advance so you can travel with confidence.
Money
For convenience and to avoid high foreign exchange fees, many travellers use a travel card such as Wise or Revolut. This allows you to pay in local currency with minimal charges, and you can also withdraw cash from ATMs if needed. In the Maldives, the local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa, but US dollars are widely accepted, especially in guesthouses, restaurants, and for activities. Cash is useful for smaller purchases on local islands, so it’s a good idea to have a mix of payment options.
Food
The Maldives offers a mix of fresh seafood, local island dishes, and international cuisine, so there’s plenty to enjoy throughout your trip. Try classics like: Mas Huni: a traditional breakfast made with tuna, coconut, and flatbread Garudhiya: a simple, flavourful fish soup served with rice and lime You’ll find a range of options from local cafés to beachfront restaurants, with lots of opportunities to try authentic dishes as well as familiar favourites. Many meals are included on your itinerary, but you’ll also have free time to explore and find your own go-to spots. Vegetarian options are available, though choices can be more limited on smaller islands. For a full breakdown of what’s included, check the day-by-day itinerary on your tour page.
Best Time to Travel
The Maldives enjoys warm, tropical weather all year round, making it a great destination whenever you visit. The dry season runs from November to April, bringing clear skies, calm seas, and ideal conditions for snorkelling and island hopping. The wet season from May to October sees occasional tropical showers, but these are usually short-lived and followed by sunshine. No matter when you travel, our trips are designed to make the most of the conditions, so you can enjoy a mix of ocean experiences, island life, and time to relax.
Nightlife
The Maldives has a more laid-back nightlife scene compared to destinations like Thailand or Bali, shaped by local culture and traditions. Instead of all-night parties, think sunset beach bars, bonfires, and relaxed evenings by the ocean with your group. It’s the perfect place to unwind, connect, and enjoy slower-paced island nights, whether that’s stargazing, sharing stories, or just soaking up the atmosphere.
Dress Code
The Maldives is a Muslim country, so modest dress is appreciated when visiting local islands. Covering your shoulders and knees is a good way to show respect in these areas. On designated tourist beaches and excursions, swimwear such as bikinis is completely fine, so you’ll still have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the sun. We recommend packing light, breathable clothing for the warm climate, along with a sarong or cover-up for when you’re exploring local areas.
